If you are old enough to remember the days of leaded gasoline, no lead worked fine at the expense of valve seats and valve guides. The same is true today, current synthetic motor oils will work in your performance engines, but at the cost of accelerated camshaft wear, timing chain to gear, push rod to rocker arm, piston to pin and pin to connecting rod. The list goes on. Although, the ZINC (ZDDP) additive was aimed at the flat tappet market, you can see the need in roller motors, when you look at all the other parts affected.
The advantage of Les Frickshun over other zinc products is that the product is pre-diluted for immediate dispersal of the zddp package. It also replaces a quart of oil instead of adding it in addition to the normal amount of oil.
We recommend filling the oil filter with Les Frickshun ZINC and priming the motor to give it a generous amount of zddp on start up. Tests have shown start up accounts for up to 50 times wear rate over a running engine, you don't have time for your engine to be a blending unit. That's why Les Frickshun is pre-diluted.
